Humanitarian Aid & Relief Initiatives (HARI)

An outreach program that aims to help alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity in communities affected by natural calamities in the Philippine Cordillera & neighboring provinces.

The Beginning

On the year 2018, the world’s strongest storm (so far) has hit Northern Philippines and was at its height of destruction on September 14, 2018. Much stronger than Super Typhoon Juan (Megi) in 2010 and Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013, Typhoon Ompong took the lives of more than a hundred people in the Philippines (including confirmed deaths and missing persons).

Hit the hardest was the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Tragically, many of our people were buried alive by landslides, homes washed out by days of heavy rains, and families have lost their loved ones—either still missing, found dead or both.

In an attempt to immediately respond to calls for help, MABIKAs Foundation-The Netherlands urgently launched its Humanitarian Aid & Relief Initiative (HARI) by teaming up with individuals, organizations or groups based in the Philippines (particularly those in the education sector) to conduct community outreaches in devastated areas…
